Humanitas is a 6-year university program in Medical and Surgical degree course. The course is taught entirely in English. In the third year, a basic knowledge of Italian is required during clinical practice. Starting from the first year, the theoretical interdisciplinary modules are integrated with practical experience and simulation activities. Internships start in the 3rd year in which students can also access the Virgilio Program. The course is characterized by a multi-disciplinary and integrated approach to teaching, so most of the individual courses are grouped into modules, with a total of 360 credits and 29 exams distributed over 12 semesters. Participation is compulsory and a prerequisite for taking the exam. Among the teaching methods, special emphasis is placed on interactive teaching, often consisting of a group study and team work coordinated by a teacher. Examples of such methods are Problem Based Learning, Sampling Method, Problem Solving, Concept Maps and Portfolios. Special attention is also paid to vocational training to support the acquisition of specific professional skills. This approach enables students to integrate theory and practice by developing a critical and autonomous reasoning. Students are also encouraged to attend internal seminars and conferences, participate in research activities and experiences abroad, according to the Erasmus program or other international mobility options.
